Sonic CD Announced for Holiday 2011
Posted by Shaddix on August 25, 2011
Everyone favourite marmite Sonic the Hedgehog game Sonic CD is getting an re-release for Xbox 360 PS3 and Smartphones like Windows 7 Phone this Holiday 2011 but what makes this re-release so special though ? That it’s no normal port but created by Sonic Retro tech member Christian Whitehead better known under the name The Taxman.
He has created a special version of Sonic CD which was a under a proof of concept on a IOS (iPhone or Ipod Touch) back in 2009 . I am very excited for the port/remake of sorts because I’ve never owned the proper physical CD of Sonic CD beforeof the game besides the rubbish port in Gems Collection what didn’t have the Japanese music option but it’s a game I am and you are going to certainly buy!
Here is the Press Release for Sonic CD

It looks fantastic Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic City Escape look amazing to play but I can’t help but love Classic Sonic’s version of City Escape more with the chasing truck staking him in the back and his little Skateboard power up just won me over, it will be lovely to run through a brand new City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2.

Being Set Free From Being a Sky Chase Zone Badnik…
Posted by Dean on May 31, 2011
Seems such a bad idea now to be set free from being a Badnik in 2PStart’s video what shows what really happens to the animals when they are set free and it’s not nice… I don’t think I’ll attack another badnik during Sky Chase Zone ever again heh.

Sonic Classic revision released
Posted by Mike on May 25, 2011
A bit late in posting this, but a revision to the fan-game Sonic Classic has been released, fixing a lot of the game’s bugs.

The new revision can be downloaded right here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/q5ccs9za13p2bvt/Sonic%20ClassicFULLrev01.rar
I’ve tried it out a little bit, and it definitely plays much better now. Plus, the save system works just fine for me, unlike it did before. Hooray!

New poll (finally) added to the site
Posted by Mike on May 8, 2011
Man, that poll lasted WAY longer than it should have. XD Sorry about that, it was only supposed to last through March… Anyway, I’ve finally got a new poll up on the site, so vote now for your favorite Mario character!
Oh, and of course, here are the results from the last extra-long poll. Out of all the Nintendo 64 platformers, Super Mario 64 won by a large amount, which is not surprising at all for such an awesome game (my personal favorite was Banjo-Kazooie, but SM64 was the one that started the formula after all).
Banjo-Kazooie – 20.83%, 10 Votes
Banjo-Tooie – 6.25%, 3 Votes
Chameleon Twist – 2.08%, 1 Vote
Conker’s Bad Fur Day – 10.42%, 5 Votes
Donkey Kong 64 – 2.08%, 1 Vote
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards – 8.33%, 4 Votes
Mischief Makers – 0%, 0 Votes
Super Mario 64 – 45.83%, 22 Votes
Yoshi’s Story – 4.17%, 2 Votes
Other – 0%, 0 Votes
Total Voters: 48
Oh, and for all of the moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day!

Sonic “Are you a Bee SERIOUSLY?!” shirt from Shark Robot
Posted by Mike on May 7, 2011
Hey all! Sorry for not showing up here in a while, my computer actually got a really bad virus so I haven’t been able to get online as much. But everything’s all fixed now (yay!).
So anyway, over at sharkrobot.com they have a funny new Sonic-related shirt that goes on sale on May 20th and is currently available for pre-order. The shirt makes fun of the fact that they added a bee into the Sonic universe, and I personally found it pretty amusing.
You can check it out right here: http://sharkrobot.com/t-shirts/are-you-a-bee-seriously

Rayman Origins is now a retail game no longer downloadable!
Posted by Dean on May 7, 2011

New news has come up from Neogaf.com from the latest Game Informer Issue 218 and has brand new information about Rayman Origins which may make you happy if you don’t use PSN or XBL for downloading games.
Rayman Origins
- Ancel notes that he’s been working on BG&E2 for “a while”. He said they’ve had a little break from that project that that’s where RO started
- He noted that few people finished the original Rayman due to its difficulty. They hope to change that by making this one more accessible while still offering a challenge
- They’re trying to design the game to fit various platforming styles. So people that enjoy collecting will have plenty to collect but it’s also being designed for those that like to do speedruns
- The Lums you collect will act as currency for new power ups, health and ‘I Dare You’ challenges.
- ‘I Dare You’ challenges are where you wager on whether you can complete a complex, acrobatic chain.
- The game now supports 4 player local (they don’t say anything about online) co-op.
- “The levels are designed with both single-playing and multiplayer in mind, so no one is at a loss if a player tackles the game alone or in a group.
- Rayman, Globox and two teensies were the 4 characters used in the mutliplayer demo
- In order to keep the game accessible all characters will have the same abilities
- While the game was a downloable title it has since become a full retail title. Ancel said that comes from people wanting to make a real sequel
- It’s due this holiday for the PS3 and 360
This has made me excited now since I’ve been waiting for new information for Rayman since christmas 2010 and now that it’s jumped from a downloadable episodic game to full 2D retail game is great news for Rayman fans and gamers. It will make gamers who don’t have PSN/XBL happy that they will be able to get Rayman Origins from the shops now.
Anyone else happy about the jump from download to disk based game ? I know I’m certainly happy about this.

Super Mario iPhone/iPad rip off Monino gameplay & taken down from iTunes
Posted by Dean on April 28, 2011
Here some gameplay footage from the Super Mario rip off what we posted eariler today and boy the gameplay sure looks the same (well a bit slower than Super Mario) in Monino they didn’t change one thing about this game what is from Mario from the music, sound effects and as mentions in post below the graphics. It seems that Apple has had the App taken down from iTunes so nobody will be able to get hold of the game which is a good thing that Nintendo has gotten this down.

It’s a Me Mar….Monino?
Posted by Dean on April 28, 2011

Ok I’ve seen some funny things pop up on iTunes for iPhone games like when ‘Splosion Man got a iPhone Rip off game now welcome a new iPhone rip off Super Mar… Super Monino ? Oh dear looks like Nintendo may have a lawsuit soon once they find out about this. The app developers didn’t change anything about the game only the names. The sprites, gameplay, and designs are all the same so looks like someone is in trouble with Nintendo very soon.

Thanks to Dan Dyer on the SSMB Status updates for the link to this ;).
